Service & Care – How to take care of your scissor?
Service and care for your scissor is very important, taking care and cleaning of your scissor notably increases the lifetime of your scissor. The main care of your scissor will take up to a few minutes a week and is definitely worth the effort.
We will explain step by step how to take care of your scissor in the best way!
Step 1: Daily cleaning
Make sure to clean your scissor at least once a day with a dry wipe, do this when your done working if you do it only once a day. By whipping your scissor, hairs and used products will be removed from the scissor. Daily cleaning is also very important for your own and your customers’ health beside the lifetime of your scissor.
Step 2: Weekly Oils
Besides the cleaning, the screws needs to be oiled once a week. A drop of oil a week will do magic for your scissor to run smooth and the oil will remove dirt between the cutting blades as well. A well-oiled scissor keeps running smooth.
Do this on top of the scissor along the screw and between the two cutting blades where they are hold together by the screw.
Step 3: once in a while..
To keep the scissor well-cleaned, you should remove the earrings in the scissor every once in a while. Remove remained hairs and products very well, some of these products might be harmful for the materials of the scissor.
Make sure to only do this when the scissor is closed!
There’s also a possibility to place silicone earrings in your scissor for an even better personal feel. Also perfect for small fingers or adjusting more grip.
Step 4: Adjusting your screws
There is often not enough tension on a scissors’ screw, that means you will have to put a lot of pressure on the cutting blades, which is very bad for the scissor and its ergonomic effects.
A scissor should open very easily without using a lot of pressure or hair folding double. When there’s too much tension on the screws, you will have to use too much pressure to open and close the scissor, which is very exhausting.
To improve the tension on a scissors’ screw, you’ll have to adjust the screws. Do this exceptionally when the scissor doesn’t cut well. Unnecessary adjusting the screws might cause problems.
We recommend you to have your scissors sharpened every 1-1,5 year. Every scissor gets dull by the time, a dull scissor needs a lot more pressure to be used in the same way as a normal, sharpened scissor.
We often see scissors that haven’t been sharpened for 2 to 3 years, the cutting performances of these scissors can be around 50% to 75% less. Sharpening a scissor also makes it possible to slice again without having to put too much pressure on the scissor.
Make sure you will have your scissors sharpened exclusively by Kyone Service Center. Our people use the exact same materials as the materials used for producing the scissors and visit different producers annually to check up on the technics.
We only offer service for Kyone scissors. We cannot sharpen other brands’ scissors.
